A lunch box is judged on how many decisions it removes in the morning, and three compartments is usually the right number to remove them: something main, something alongside it, and something to finish with. This box divides a single body into three sealed sections holding one to two litres in total, which is a full adult lunch rather than a mid-morning snack.

The lid clips down at the sides and seals across the whole rim, which is the part that matters when a dressing is travelling on its side in a rucksack, and a matching fork and spoon sit in a recess moulded into the lid itself, so the cutlery travels with the box instead of being remembered separately. The body measures 23 by 16 by 9 centimetres and weighs around 360 grams empty, so it takes a predictable amount of a bag rather than dominating it.

It is not an insulated box and it is not rated for microwave use, so food goes in at the temperature it is meant to be eaten and comes out the same way — salads, cold rice, fruit, sandwiches. Three colours are made, green, blue and pink, identical in every other respect, so the only real decision is which one is recognisably yours in a shared office fridge. Wash by hand, and dry the lid seal properly before storing.
