A conch that glows from the inside. Marin is cast rather than found, so the ridges and the lip of the opening are consistent enough to sit as a considered object rather than a holiday souvenir, and the light coming through the wall of it is soft and slightly uneven in the way real shell is.

About 18 cm long and 10 cm tall, which puts it on a bedside table, a bathroom shelf or the end of a sideboard, where it works as a low light in the evening rather than something you read by. It runs on batteries rather than a cable, so there is nothing to route to a socket.

No, and we would rather say so. It is cast, which is why every one has the same ridges and the same opening. Real shells vary too much to sell as a consistent product.

How bright is it?

Low. It is an evening light for a bedside table or a shelf — enough to move around by, not enough to read by.

How is it powered?

Three AAA batteries, which you supply. There is no cable, so it can sit anywhere. A built-in timer runs it for six hours and switches it on again eighteen hours later, so in practice you set it once and leave it.

Does it need a bulb?
