Most garden lighting fails by being either too tall or too uniform. This one is drawn as an arch rather than a post: an inverted U in die-cast aluminium, open through the middle, with the light set into the inner face of the top bar so it washes straight down through the opening onto the ground. The lit shape is a rectangle of light rather than a glowing lantern, and the fitting itself stays dark.

Die-cast aluminium is the sensible material for something that lives permanently outdoors: it will not rust the way a steel post eventually does, and the casting gives enough wall thickness to survive being caught by a strimmer or knocked by a spade. The housing is rated IP55, protected against dust and against water sprayed from any direction, which covers rain and the incidental soaking a border gets from a hose. Every height carries a 7 W LED at 3000 K, a warm white that sits comfortably against planting and paving rather than bleaching them.

All four heights share the same 16.3 cm width and a slim 5.4 cm thickness, so a run reads as one family seen from any angle. The 30 cm suits path edges and low planting, where the light should sit below the leaf line. At 40 cm it clears a mid-height border. The 60 cm is the one for planting that has filled in, or for marking a change in level, and the 80 cm works as a taller marker at a gate, a driveway entrance or the turn of a path. Weights run from roughly 1 kg for the shortest to just under 2 kg for the tallest, and mixing two heights along a single route gives a far better result than a uniform line of one.
