EcoStack | Stacking Wheat Straw Lunch Box

One deep box turns a packed lunch into a single mixed meal by the time it is opened. Separate tiers stop that happening, and stacking them into a column rather than spreading them across a wide tray means the whole lunch takes a narrow slot in a bag instead of dictating what else fits.

The tiers stack and are held closed by an elastic band that runs around the whole column, so nothing works loose in transit, and a fork and spoon sit in a recess moulded into the lid — the cutlery travels with the box rather than being remembered separately. The body is a wheat straw fibre composite, which gives it a matt, slightly softer surface than a clear polypropylene box and a set of muted colours that come from the material rather than from a coating. It holds 900 ml across the three layers.

It is not insulated and it is not suitable for the microwave, so it is a box for food eaten at the temperature it was packed at: salads, cold rice, fruit, sandwiches. Three colours are made — green, khaki and pink — identical in every other respect. Nine hundred millilitres across three tiers is sized for one adult rather than a family: a main, a side and something to finish.
